There is a new service I wanted to recommend.
www.cogtours.com

These guys are located in southern Oregon and have been attending the burn since 1997. They are like sherpas.
If you want to go but don't want to handle the logistics of the 40-50 pounds of stuff you need for everyday you are on the playa ...then call COG Tours. They will pick youi up at the Medford airport and bring you back 2 weeks later for the flight home. Water, Snacks, Camping gear...No Worries. They bring that stuff so you don't have to stress out over it. This year I'll be taking the writing workshop after the burn and the shamanic soul journey one before.

Cuz going to burningman is supposed to be easy. Just pay someone to do all the work for you. That's what makes it so meaningful.

I think the service is a great idea. Its certainly more GREEN if people organize and utilize group transportation services. Also, by providing the out of towners with supplies which I assume include things like ice chests etc. than there would be less throw aways. I know lots of people who fly in, rent a car, buy their coolers/supplies when they get there and just dump the stuff because they can't take it all back on the plane.

I think such a service/concept should grow into a large scale co-op effort. Including getting art on the playa utilizing semi truck rather than all the individual rental vans etc. helping to reduce the carbon foot-print. With such a HUGE portion of the population coming from SF to Black Rock why so many individual cars, there should be more Green Tortoise companies for BM.
